Félix Lazo (Chile)


Involved in music studies since 13 years old, and a recorder (Blockflöten) virtuoso performer at 20 in Baroque and Contemporary music, he study Biological Sciences for three years before committing himself totally to music.
At 21 when he had an ensemble of Baroque music and start touring and giving concerts, he realized that something was missing and starts to paint and gets involved in the visual arts studying art and having exhibitions, at 24 finishes his music studies and starts playing saxophone with some experimental groups. He is hired as a recorder professor at the University of Playa Ancha in Valparaiso, Chile, and at the same time he continue his studies in painting and visual arts. In 1985 Receives the Fulbright Scholarship and study for two years in New York, music and visual arts. Back in Chile makes a career in the visual arts and continues to play music with small groups of experimental and improvisation music. In 1996 receives a commission for creating a work of art from a computer company that supplies him with equipment, gets involve with computers and start composing music with the computer and visuals (animations and videos), In 2002 travels to Paris to study computer music at CCMIX (www.ccmix.com), now he lives and work in Santiago, Chile, developing the different facets of his visual and electroacustic work, he teaches Video Art, Computer in Visual Arts in Universidad Mayor (www.umayor.cl) and in Universidad UNIACC (www.uniacc.cl) both in Santiago Chile.
