[En español...] All of the sound material in this piece ("Pulsar: The Caribbean") is based on X-ray emissions from a pulsar or pulsating star located 175 light years from Earth, captured by the Radio Telescope at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico (the largest in the world) and recorded by the author in 1981.

This type of star is born from the core of an exploding supernova, and is called pulsar because of the type of signal it emits, which is like a lighthouse beam of energy with a very stable pulse.

The first step involved converting the X-ray signals into sound material. Thousandth of a second segments were then extracted and subjected to various electroacoustic processes to create different tones with musical characteristics.

The concept behind the piece is that the star emits a beat that is received in the Caribbean as a form of energy, gradually becomes an Afro-Caribbean beat, then finally returns to its original form and withdraws.

My intention is to transfer the energy of a star to the listener, using sound-musical means, to reflect on the reality of the Caribbean.
