Born and raised in Prague, Czechoslovakia, Jana Sterbak received art training in Canada and now divides her time between Canada and Europe. A multi-disciplinary artist who works in video, installation, and interactive media, Sterbak has been the recipient of numerous awards including a Guggenheim fellowship (1991) and a Jean A. Chambers National Visual Art Award from the Ontario Arts Council (2000).
Her work is found in major collections including Centre Georges-Pompidou (Paris, France), the Miami Art Museum (Miami, FL, U.S.), the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (Montreal, Quebec) and the Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto, Ontario).
